I always feel like, after a semi viral article on here, I should be scaring the hoes:
if you followed me on here thinking you’ll get a great think piece about the state of social media, or how to be a self promoter, please know I am a real person that doesn’t have real good thoughts every week.
my piece on template slop turned into lots of discourse and even made it into the guardian lol https://www.theguardian.com/fashion/2026/aug/14/why-everything-is-kinda-chic-instagram-tiktok-social-media. this was my most popular substack to date that got me 500 new followers and if i were a true template influencer i would take this made up topic and run with it off into the sunset and reheat my own nachos over and over but everyone else can do that, I got my thoughts and and that’s honestly enough for me.. on to the next topic. I love reading all the takes and being tagged in things but I am not sitting on template slop throne now, you all can have it:) she was never mine, it was just my turn.
I think about my creative process a lot, and think you should, too. when do I feel like creating? the first step is to acknowledge that you are a creative, whatever it is, if there was nothing, and then there is something, a text, a photo, you are creating something! I struggle a lot of pride and being proud of what I am achieving and doing (I know I don’t come across that ways lol but I can’t even look my therapist in the eyes when she’s making me say something nice about myself), but it is an essential part of creation. there is this idea of creating out of habit (which means accepting that you’ll put out a lot of shit work, too) and there is the opposite, creating when there is an idea, which is what I fall into. it means nothing happens regularly, and involves days of staring at the wall. it works for me, because I have gotten to a point where I don’t have financial stress, but it’s not very sustainable.
anyways, the challenge of catching ideas when they come and putting them down on paper, typing them down, doing something after the idea comes, I love thinking about that (very individual) process.
I am in full summer mode, have deleted tiktok for a few weeks, allow myself to be on instagram twice a day, and my main form of digital entertainment is that we have been invited into the community whatsapp groupchat on the island where we just bought a property and it’s a mix of spanish and english, furniture to sell, how is the tide right now, someone lost a key, someone found a key, does someone have a printer? it’s really great and so far I am just a silent observer and waiting for my time to shine. that said, I wanted to tell you that I blocked any kind of gossip account like deuxmoi etc, which i never followed but of course when i see a grabby headline on my explore page i want to know more, and it’s not the person I want to be. highly recommend blocking accounts that make you ugly or spiteful or jealous or all of the above. I am in the same pyjama pants and bikini every day and it both makes me appreciate the amazing things i get to wear in my life but also reminds me that nothing about my insignificance matters when I am in nature. it has been a few years since I have taken a proper vacation and now that this is mine, I don’t have a return flight, just knowing that at some point in september I will make it to new york for new york fashion week. even though I am on vacation right now, my management is handling fashion week requests, and new yorkers are already back to being tireless at work, waiting on sleepy french and italians to reply to emails, who are simply offended being contacted in august. thom browne is back on the nyfw schedule which is exciting, and my schedule is filling so I should probably book a flight soon.
the best thing I read this week, actually my fiancé read it to me out loud, has been “frank sinatra has a cold”, here: https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/a638/frank-sinatra-has-a-cold-gay-talese/ which is one of the most famous pieces of modern journalism, and some call it the greatest celebrity profile of all time. a must read and you need a bit of time. if you already know it, maybe it’s time to read it again. and then when you’re done reading it:
paris fashion week seems lightyears away but even that schedule is already being worked on. I am hoping to be doing a youtube vlog again!
toteme has launched menswear, did you look at it? I remember going to their showroom in paris in 2019 and finding everything so beautiful, yet I have never bought a single thing from them since then. the new york store is also beautiful. what elin kling and karl lindman have built is so incredibly impressive. as a consumer, I have just always opted for buying the row and old celine on vestiaire / trr over new toteme. so the menswear looks fine, very unsurprising, you cannot really ever look bad in toteme, but you’re also not going to look like a tastemaker.
and then, have you read the profile on lauren sherman on vanity fair? https://www.vanityfair.com/story/lauren-sherman-puck-interview. this was such a juicy and fun read. I am a long time puck subscriber and think there is nobody who’s doing what she’s doing in fashion at the moment. also loved her on the cutting room floor. in general I am stoked to see what’s been happening at the first year of mark guiducci at vanity fair, I love reading anything josé writes and this marc piece was great (I still don’t fully understand why the cover picture doesn’t look like marc at all) https://www.vanityfair.com/story/marc-jacobs-cover-story (again if you can’t find your way around a paywall, that’s natural selection).
paper wise, I am reading tina brown’s vanity fair diaries! this has been on my list for such a long time and it’s really fun so far (also has a great audio version!). I bought bergdorf blondes bc I never read it and thought it would be fun fantasy beach read but I only got fifteen pages in and had to put it down bc it really is very bad.
watching-
this is one of my favourite rick interviews on video, I wish he would narrate an audio book. anyways if you’re a fashion nerd or just have time, the rick owens website has an incredible archive and you can watch all the old shows: https://www.rickowens.eu/en-de/pages/runway-shows-women/scorpio-ss-05 this is one of my favourites.
loved this! such fun energy.
also have you read my interview with emily sundberg, I think she took off her paywall for the summer!
and then I hope you’ve seen this already but because it was such a fun interview and I am such a fan of recho, I hope you have seen me on the cutting room floor :) https://www.patreon.com/thecuttingroomfloor/posts/s6-ep26-chat-152726985?l=en-GB
anyways that’s that on that, I hope you are having a great day <3 I am personally eating four to six gigantic peaches a day here and am wondering if that’s bad (don’t tell me, I don’t need to actually know)

Reheated nachos are never exciting.
Enjoy the vacation!!! I personally been off ig since 4 weeks and it is amazing to just enjoy summer without social media pressure. xo
